Wrong-Way Crash Accident Statistics

Car accidents can result in serious injury and extreme trauma for everyone involved. Because of how universal cars are, some drivers often forget how a car accident can occur in the blink of an eye. Annually, approximately 355 people are killed in the United States as a result of wrong-way drivers. With an average of 265 wrong-way collision deaths, 1.34 fatalities per wrong-way collision are calculated.

Wrong-way collisions can result in injuries such as a spinal cord injury, paralysis, or head trauma. As a result, the victim may require special care, in addition to expensive medical treatments, surgeries, therapies, and other injury-related care.

Everyone deserves safe roads. Intoxicated drivers put innocent people — and themselves — at severe and unacceptable risk. While California and the United States as a whole have made some remarkable progress on curbing drinking and driving, there is still a very long way to go.
