[11-20-2020] Tulare County, CA – One Killed, Another Injured in a Head-On Collision on Highway 137

A 33-year-old man identified as Jose Gonzales was injured while another person was killed due to a fatal head-on collision on Highway 137 on early Friday morning, November 20. 

The major collision occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Highway 137 near Road 24 in Tulare County. 

A GMC Sierra driven by Gonzales was driving on the roadway when, for unestablished reasons, it suddenly collided head-on with a Subaru BRZ near Road 24. 

The 20-year-old driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released at the moment. 

The Sierra driver sustained severe injuries as a result of the accident. He was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the crash. 

Fatal Head-On Collision Investigation is Underway 

The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the case. They will attempt to determine the factors that possibly affected the accident. Although head-on collisions only represent 2 percent of accidents, they account for 10 percent of fatalities on U.S. roadways.
