DUI Accident Statistics

According to research done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving is responsible for about 10,000 annual deaths in the US. About 20% of fatal car accidents each year involve alcohol or drug usage.

In California alone, these kinds of tragedies annually claim the lives of about 2,000 individuals and leave another 30,000 with injuries. We already have a serious problem with drunk drivers. There are severe consequences for those who are caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drunk drivers pose a danger to other motorists because they are more likely to engage in risky behaviors, including speeding, swerving, and other acts based on poor decision-making. If there is any reason to suspect danger or uncertainty, you should immediately leave the area.

Medical costs caused by a car accident caused by a drunk driver must be covered by the driver’s insurance policy. Never make any assumptions or help the investigators without first consulting an attorney. Those who have been hurt and suspect a drunk driver may be to blame should not waste any time in retaining legal counsel.
