[01-28-2023] Two Drivers Killed After Two-Vehicle Head-On CollisionTwo people were killed following a two-vehicle head-on collision in Kings County on Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at around 3:30 p.m. at the 27th Avenue and Elder Avenue intersection.

Initial investigation revealed that a Honda van heading east and a Hyundai sedan moving in the opposite direction were involved. One of them veered off their lane and crossed the center line, but it remains unclear which did it.

The head-on collision caused the sedan to catch fire. Both drivers were killed on the spot. It is unknown if they were the only occupants at the time of the crash.

The circumstances leading to the fatal crash are still being looked into, including whether speeding, alcohol, or drugs played a role.
