[03-24-2024] San Diego County, CA – At Least One Person Killed Following Fiery Six-Vehicle Collision in Chula Vista

At least one person was killed following a fiery six-vehicle collision in Chula Vista on Sunday evening, March 24, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fiery crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on the southbound San Diego (5) Freeway, south of Main Street.

Authorities stated that multi-vehicle collision left one vehicle engulfed in flames. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. It was unclear if there are other injuries.

Police said the victim’s name will be disclosed pending notification to the next of kin. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward and help the authorities in resolving the case.

No further information was released, and the investigators are gathering all necessary details to determine the cause of the collision.
