[04-03-2023] Lassen County, CA – Snowplow Operator Struck by Vehicle on Highway 395, Victim Injured

The crash reportedly occurred in the afternoon on Highway 395 near Constantia Road.

According to authorities, the man operating a Caltrans snowplow had pulled over on the right shoulder to inspect his equipment. A vehicle then spun out and collided with the back of the snow plow. He exited the snow plow to examine the damage. This was determined to be non-injury.

During this time, a 40-year-old man, identified as Louis R., drove a 4 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Highway 395 when he lost control due to the icy road. The front of the Chevrolet collided with the left side of the snow plow and the Victim as it spun out.

The 61-year-old man was knocked down and sought refuge beneath the snow plow. The Chevrolet came to a halt in the middle of the road.

Officers immediately arrived and requested medical assistance. The Victim was transported from the scene by helicopter. The vehicle driver suffered no injuries, while the Victim suffered minor injuries.
