[04-20-2022] Kern County, CA – BPD Officer Injured After a Suspected DUI Crash in Bakersfield

A Bakersfield Police Department officer was hurt following a traffic crash involving a suspected DUI driver at a Bakersfield intersection on Wednesday night, April 20, 2022.

[04-20-2022] Kern County, CA - BPD Officer Injured After a Suspected DUI Crash in BakersfieldThe accident happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. at Colony Street and Panama Lane intersection.

The officer was traveling in a patrol vehicle and was about to turn south on Panama Lane when a driver that ran a red light suddenly struck his vehicle.

The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene. A passenger inside the other vehicle also sustained minor injuries.

The second vehicle driver was later identified as 31-year-old David M. he was arrested for DUI-related charges and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Local authorities are further investigating the case. Witnesses that can provide additional helpful information about the crash are urged to call the BPD at 661-327-7111.
