[04-22-2023] One Dead and One Arrested in a Suspected DUI Single-Car Collision in OaklandA 27-year-old passenger died while the 23-year-old driver had minor injuries in a suspected DUI single-car collision in Oakland, CA, on Saturday morning, April 22, 2023.

The Oakland Police reported that a Hyundai Elantra with two occupants crashed into a light pole near Joaquin Miller Road and Skyline Boulevard around 8:30 a.m. One of them has a warrant for his arrest.

The 27-year-old suffered significant injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The 23-year-old had minor injuries. The identities of the victim and the suspect are not disclosed until their next of kin is notified.

The police suspected that either alcohol or drugs played a role. The driver was arrested due to his warrant and his statement that he was driving while impaired. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing.
