[04-23-2023] One Killed and One Arrested in a Suspected DUI Rear-End Collision in HaywardOne person was killed following a rear-end collision between a sedan and a tow truck southbound on I-880 in Hayward City on Sunday morning, April 23, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a rear-end collision between a silver sedan and a tow truck on I-880 southbound, north of Winton Avenue, around 3:13 a.m.

Due to the high speed of the sedan, its passenger got ejected from the car due to the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tow truck was reported to have suffered no injuries. Authorities arrested the driver of the sedan for suspected DUI and manslaughter.

The authorities have not released the identity of individuals involved in the crash until they have notified the next of kin.

The investigation is still ongoing.
