[05-16-2023] San Luis Obispo County, CA – 25-Year-old Pedestrian Died After Being Struck by Vehicle on Highway 101

A 25-year-old man died after being struck by a car in Modestoon Tuesday morning, May 16, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at 2:19 a.m. along Highway 101 in the Atascadero area.

Based on the report, the incident occurred when a 32-year-old driver from Atascadero was traveling north on the highway near Santa Rosa Road. The driver encountered a pedestrian who had entered the center of the road and was directly in the path of their Toyota Tacoma. Despite the driver’s inability to avoid the collision, they promptly dialed emergency services for help.

The pedestrian from Atascadero was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no indication that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the incident. The pedestrian’s identity will be disclosed once their next of kin has been notified.
