Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics

A collision involving three or more vehicles is referred to as a multi-vehicle collision. High-speed routes like freeways are frequent locations for these collisions, which are among the deadliest on the road.

More than 13,000 people lost their lives in collisions involving multiple passenger vehicles, according to a study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Head-on collisions cause over 40% of all car accidents.

The most common cause of multiple-vehicle collisions is a driver’s lack of concentration or attention to detail. Driving while intoxicated, inattentive driving, and speeding, or reckless driving can all lead to multiple-vehicle collisions.

Multiple vehicles are more likely to collide in high-speed accidents, causing one or more vehicles to veer out of control.

Avoiding multi-vehicle collisions is as simple as not tailgating, paying attention to the road, and setting your speed appropriately.

Santa Barbara County Car Accident Lawyers

Bringing a case to court is much simpler if there are only two parties at fault in a two-car accident. However, if more than one vehicle is involved in a collision, the situation can become more difficult.

More vehicles make it more difficult to determine who was responsible for a multi-vehicle accident. If two or more cars collided, it’s possible that many people would have been hurt.

A multi-vehicle collision is notoriously difficult to determine fault in, so relying on an insurance company to do so may be a mistake. There is no guarantee that insurance companies will pay out on your claim because profit is more important to them than your health.
