[08-04-2022] Trinity County, CA - 58-year-old Woman Died After Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 299The 58-year-old Lewiston woman died after a motorcycle and big rig collision on Highway 299 Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened around 3:15 p.m. east of Douglas City, west of Indian Creek Lodge.

According to the local authorities, the woman on the motorcycle was traveling east on Highway 299 when she made a right-hand turn and crossed the double yellow lines.

The woman turned directly into oncoming traffic and hit a logging truck.

According to the CHP, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jean M., 69, was the logging truck driver involved in the accident.

Marschner tried to turn right and apply the breaks to avoid the crash, but he could not do so. He was unharmed in the collision.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

When the woman’s next of kin is informed, her identity will be made public.
