According to the Caltrain Twitter account, the incident occurred approximately at 12:30 p.m. near Whipple Avenue.

Emergency services, including fire and police units, promptly arrived at the location and found one individual who was hit and killed by a passing train.

Details concerning the circumstances leading to this tragic train collision and the deceased person’s identity are currently unavailable.

The train came to a stop with approximately 75 passengers aboard, and no additional injuries were reported.

The ratio of railway-related deaths to nonfatal injuries and illnesses was approximately 1:6. Notably, around 26% of the overall deaths occurred at rail crossings. Additionally, out of the 3,216 reported nonfatal railway occupational injuries and illnesses, 66 were attributed to incidents at highway-rail crossings in 2021.
