[10-03-2022] Two-Vehicle Collision Sends Motorcyclist and Passenger to Hospital in RenoAccording to the California Highway Patrol Susanville Area office, a motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a vehicle that occurred on Highway 36 near Fredonyer Summit Monday, October 3, 2022

The collision occurred at 4:49 p.m. on Highway 36, east of Fredonyer Summit, which sent Westwood residents to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Bobby S., who is 42 and from Westwood, was riding a Harley Davidson west on Highway 36 with Cheryl M, who is also from Westwood and is 43, sitting behind him. He was going east of Fredonyer Summit at a speed of 45 mph, which was what he said.

Ronald M., 40, of Antelope, was driving east on Highway 36 in a 2017 Kia Sedona at a speed of 50 mph as he got close to the motorcycle.

The CHP says that if you are driving west on this road, it has a moderate uphill slope and sharp curves to the right.

Stanfill couldn’t make the right turn in the road for some reason, so he let the motorcycle cross the double parallel yellow lines that separate the eastbound and westbound lanes and drove right into the Kia.

Then, Stanfill and his passenger crashed into the eastbound Kia. Stanfill and his passenger were thrown off the bike and onto the road.

Mccart went straight to the scene and tried to help. Both of the people who were hurt were seriously hurt and were flown to Renown.

Stanfill broke his femur, and Morrell broke his leg in several places. This accident did not happen because of drugs or alcohol.

The cause of the accident is still being looked into.
