[12-23-2021] San Diego County, CA – One Person Killed After a Deadly Motorcycle Crash in Escondido

A 60-year-old man identified as Shaun Van R. was killed after a fatal motorcycle accident in Escondido on Thursday morning, December 23, 2021.

A Yamaha YZF450 off-road motorcycle was traveling on the east sidewalk of Bear Valley when a Lexus NX 300 SUV making a left turn struck him.

The motorcycle rider was rushed to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The SUV driver remained at the scene and willingly cooperated with authorities. She was uninjured in the crash. Information about the accident is limited at the moment. The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed.

Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the accident. Witnesses that can provide additional information about the crash are urged to call Officer Pete McCollough at 760-839-4930.
