A 44-year-old San Francisco resident identified as Jacoby Jone was killed after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in the north of Panhandle neighborhood on Monday afternoon, September 7.
The fatal motorcycle accident took place on Turk Boulevard near Central Avenue at approximately 2:35 p.m. The motorcyclist was traveling on Turk Street when he suddenly collided with the rear end of a car.
He was ejected from his motorcycle due to the severity of the impact. The motorcycle rider sustained significant injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither the motorcyclist and the driver of the vehicle were impaired at the time of the crash. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Fatal Accident Investigation Needed
Local authorities are currently investigating the case. They will attempt to determine the cause and liability during the probe.
Motorcyclists are more vulnerable to the dangers of the roadway compared to passengers in private vehicles. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics, motorcycle riders have 16 times the risk of injury and 35 times the risk of a fatal crash in comparison to car passengers.
Although a variety of laws protects motorcycle riders, motorcycle accidents are still an inevitable occurrence. Some of the common causes of motorcycle accidents are distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, reckless driving, bad weather, wrong-way driving, and failure to follow laws.
When facing cases like this, it’s essential to have an experienced San Francisco County wrongful death attorney specializing in fatal motorcycle accidents to conduct an independent investigation. Attorneys can utilize their resources to help prove the negligence of the liable party. They can hire expert witnesses, conduct background checks on the involved drivers, and review applicable insurance coverage for their clients.
San Francisco Wrongful Death Claim for Victims of Fatal Motorcycle Accidents
With the sudden loss of their loved one, the victim’s family may be left vulnerable to manipulation by either insurance companies or the other party. Although no amount of work can bring back their loved one, they can give them justice instead of their attorney’s assistance.
Pending the results of the official investigation, the victim’s family is encouraged to pursue a wrongful death claim. The responsible driver will be held accountable for the non-economic damages, such as emotional trauma, pain, and suffering. Attorneys can serve as a helpful legal guide for the family during this difficult time. They will vigorously fight for their client’s rights and best interests while ensuring that the liable party will be held accountable for their crime.
