[01-14-2022] Fresno County, CA – One Person Killed After a Fatal Coalinga Car Crash

A 36-year-old man identified as David Melendez R. was killed following a deadly car crash in Coalinga on Friday night, January 14, 2022.

[01-14-2022] Fresno County, CA - One Person Killed After a Fatal Coalinga Car CrashThe accident occurred on Jayne Avenue, just east of Enterprise Parkway in Coalinga, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Honda was traveling eastbound on Jayne Avenue when the driver made an unsafe turn and lost control of the vehicle. The Honda driver then drove on the dirt shoulder of the road and veered across the eastbound and westbound lanes of Jayne Avenue.

An oncoming van traveling in the opposite lanes then crashed into the Honda. The van attempted to avoid the Honda, but it could not successfully evade it.

Unfortunately, the Honda driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

An active investigation is currently underway. Authorities will attempt to determine the factors and the liability in the crash.
