The overall death toll and the death rate both went up by roughly 20% and 27% over a decade. At present, there are 5,579 deaths for every 100,000,000 kilometers driven (a rate of 31.64).

About 785 thousand motorcycles called California home in the year 2020. Every year, more than 500 motorcyclists lose their lives in the state, making it one of the two deadliest in the United States. About 6 percent of these fatalities can be traced back to riders not donning protective headgear.

The victim may feel obligated to express regret for the incident even if they played no role in it.
