[03-11-2024] Sacramento County, CA – Male Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle Along Highway 99 Near Elk Grove

A male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Elk Grove late Monday evening, March 11, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:15 p.m. along the southbound lane of Highway 99 near Calvine Road.

Reports indicate that a man was walking between lanes for unknown reasons when he was hit by a vehicle. The victim was later pronounced dead, his identity has yet to be released.

The driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigations. The authorities dismissed DUI as a factor.

According to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 7,388 pedestrians were killed in motor vehicle crashes, while about 60,000 pedestrians were injured in 2021.
