What To Do After A Sacramento Pedestrian Accident

After being struck by a car, it can be difficult to think straight, much less if you were hurt. However, the things you say and do at the scene of the accident can have a big impact on how your subsequent claim against the at-fault party turns out. You can maximize the value of your personal injury claim by doing the following:

  1. Seek medical attention right away. Call 911 as soon as the accident occurs. If you are unable to do so due to your injuries, ask someone to call emergency services.
  2. Call the police. Make sure a police officer creates an official report of the accident.
  3. Take photos of the accident scene and the vehicle that hit you. Then, take pictures of your injuries and property damage. It also helps if you document the weather and road conditions at the time of the accident.
  4. Exchange details with the at-fault driver. Ask for details like their name, contact information, and insurance policy.
  5. Get the contact details of all possible eyewitnesses.
  6. Note down all the information you can about your injuries, treatment, and expenses as you go through your recovery process.
  7. Never speak with insurance companies or agree to a settlement. Also, avoid posting about the accident on social media.
  8. Instead, speak with Sacramento pedestrian accident lawyers as soon as you can to discuss your case.
