An unidentified 71-year-old woman was killed after getting struck by a suspected drunk driver in Murrieta on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2022.

[03-23-2022] Riverside County, CA - 71-Year-Old Woman Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in MurrietaThe fatal accident occurred at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Clinton Keith Road, just east of Mariposa in Murrieta.

The Woman was walking along the sidewalk when she was suddenly hit by a pickup truck. The victim was immediately taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, but unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The driver did not stop to help the victim and continued driving. Authorities were able to locate the suspect’s pickup truck three blocks away from the crash site.

The suspect was identified as 57-year-old Rodney Wayne. He was taken into custody and was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run, resulting in death. He is currently booked into the Byrd Detention Center.

An active investigation of the case is currently underway. Local authorities are encouraging witnesses to call the police department at 951-304-2677 if they have any additional information on the case.
