Fatal Truck Accident Statistics

The economy would be unable to function without semi-trucks. The United States relies heavily on its trucking industry to transport a large volume of goods each year. Because of this, passing a large truck can be dangerous for other drivers as well.

Semi-truck accidents have a higher fatality rate than other types of collisions. Big rig accidents frequently result in serious injury or death because of their enormous size difference from other vehicles on the road.

Big rig truck fatality rates have risen by 30 percent since 2009, according to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Tractor-trailer accidents killed 4,102 people in 2017 alone.

It’s possible that a semi-truck accident can be caused by any number of factors such as loss of control, blowout, failure of the vehicle, or the truck itself.
