According to a CHP spokesman, officers responded at 4:16 a.m. to the southbound Ventura (101) Freeway and the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway exchange.

Officials discovered a pedestrian had been fatally struck at the crash scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to California Highway Patrol, the driver drove away without stopping to help.

There are no other details available.

The hit-and-run accident remains under investigation.
