[04-02-2023] Several People Injured Following Two-Car Crash in BakersfieldA two-year-old child was severely injured, and several sustained minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2023.

Authorities confirmed that the collision transpired around 12:30 p.m. between King and Niles Streets.

According to reports, a sedan was traveling west when it collided with a pickup truck that had stopped at the intersection with King Street. The sedan also collided with a utility pole near its base.

When responders arrived at the scene, they discovered a severely injured juvenile seated in a forward-facing child safety seat in the sedan.

Paramedics immediately transported the child to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Meanwhile, other drivers and passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated.

The intersection was closed for four to five hours as the investigation continued, and the crash’s cause is currently unknown.
