Two people were hospitalized following a major two-vehicle collision near Planada on Sunday morning, April 10, 2022.

[04-10-2022] Merced County, CA - Two Drivers Injured Following a Major Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 140The collision happened at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Highway 140 and North Cunningham Road near Planada.

A northbound 2016 Volkswagen sedan was traveling on North Cunningham Road; as it approached the Highway 140 intersection, the Volkswagen driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

The 2016 Volkswagen then continued into the intersection and crashed into a westbound 2018 Audi sedan traveling on Highway 140.

Due to the severity of the impact, the Audi overturned. Both drivers were seriously injured in the crash; they were airlifted to an area hospital in Modesto.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the crash. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
