[04-13-2023] San Bernardino County, CA – Hit-And-Run Collision Leaves Innocent Driver with Injuries in Apple Valley

A hit-and-run collision involving a stolen vehicle left an innocent pickup truck driver with minor injuries in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, on Thursday evening, April 13, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the head-on crash was reported at about 7:40 p.m. on Stoddard Wells Road near the Interstate 15 freeway.

Before the Victorville CHP took over, the Barstow Police Department pursued the stolen white pickup vehicle with CA-exempt license plates.

The suspect struck a small Toyota Tacoma pickup vehicle in the roadway curves after he exited the I-15 freeway. Immediately following the collision, the male suspect exited the stolen truck and ran into the desert.

Firefighters had to help the innocent driver get out of the truck. After it appeared that his injuries were not life-threatening, an ambulance took him away.

Officers from the CHP and the Apple Valley Police Department helped hunt for the suspect in the open desert.

The authorities are currently investigating the crash.
