[04-16-2023] Monterey County, CA – 35-Year-Old Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on Southbound Highway 101

A 35-year-old Salinas man died in a two-vehicle crash in Monterey County on Sunday night, April 16, 2023.

California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Southbound Highway 101 at the North Main Street off-ramp.

According to the report, the Salinas man lost control of his 2018 Chevrolet, which rolled over and stopped in the right lane. Witnesses stopped and tried to warn other drivers, but a 44-year-old man driving a 2019 Dodge Ram at 65 mph crashed into the overturned car.

Due to the second crash, the 35-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The authorities are still investigating the incident, but they suspect that the use of drugs and alcohol may have contributed to the crash.

It is unclear who might have been under the influence at the time, and no arrests have been made yet.
