[05-03-2023] One Person Killed After Pedestrian Accident in Central BakersfieldA man was killed after a pedestrian accident in Central Bakersfield on Wednesday night, May 3, 2023.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, they responded to the scene shortly before 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a man struck by a vehicle at the intersection of California Avenue and Real Road.

The pedestrian reportedly crossed the roadway outside a crosswalk when the eastbound vehicle on California Avenue hit him.

When the officers arrived, they discovered the man on the road with serious injuries. The Bakersfield Fire and Hall Ambulance attempted to save his life, but unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead.

The male driver did not sustain any injuries. He remained on the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Authorities believed alcohol, drugs, and speed were not factors in the collision.
