Fatal Car Crash Statistics

There are a disproportionately high number of fatalities in single-vehicle crashes across all types of California highways.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 62% of all fatal car accidents in California are caused by one vehicle. There are many factors to consider when driving in California because of the high number of single-vehicle accidents.

There are a variety of potential causes for a single-vehicle collision. A single-car accident is likely to occur when a driver loses control while speeding or making sharp turns on a wet or slippery road. Also, a large branch or a piece of truck bed debris may also be found on the roadside.

Your insurance policy’s comprehensive coverage plan is likely to limit your compensation even in the event of an accident caused by an unexpected occurrence, such as an animal jumping in front of your vehicle.
