[07-04-2022] Stanislaus County, CA - 2-Year-Old Girl in Wagon Injured in Pedestrian Crash After Getting Struck by Pickup Truck in ModestoAccording to a police department update, a 2-year-old toddler was injured when her wagon was hit by a pickup truck pulling out of a parking lot in downtown Modesto on Monday, July 4, 2022.

According to the department’s spokeswoman Sharon Bear, the crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. in the 700 block of 15th Street, close to 15th and G streets.

Bear reported that the girl was transported by medical helicopter for treatment on Tuesday. The injuries were also not life-threatening, according to earlier police statements. There are no updates yet on the girl’s condition.

Bear said a pickup truck driver was leaving a parking lot.

Bear stated that the driver waited for a group of pedestrians to cross the driveway exit. The driver claimed that he started to pull away once he thought the group had finished crossing.

He collided with the wagon that was pulling a toddler inside.

There was no information on the kind of wagon or the person pulling it.

According to Bear, the driver was found to be at fault for not turning before entering the road. It wasn’t immediately clear if the driver had been cited.
