[09-23-2022] Shasta County, CA - Hit-and-Run Accident Leaves One Person Injured on North Market StreetOne person suffered injuries after a hit-and-run accident on North Market Street on Friday, September 23, 2022.

According to the Redding police officer, the accident transpired around 1:11 p.m. on North Market Street and Benton Drive.

The vehicles involved at the collision scene were a 2016 Nissan sedan and a 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck.

With non-life-threatening wounds, the Nissan’s driver was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center.

According to the authorities, Dillon C., 51, of Redding, the driver of the Chevrolet pickup, allegedly fled the collision scene before police arrived.

Carmelo exited the Turtle Bay School campus on foot after leaping over a cinderblock wall to get there. The Turtle Bay school campus went into precautionary lockdown.

They conducted a thorough search with the aid of the CHP helicopter and a K-9 from the Redding Police Department. Carmelo, however, was not found.
