Motorcycle Crash Statistics

Motorcyclists don’t have as much protection as people who drive cars. Regarding speed and road conditions, they are like cars but don’t offer the same level of safety.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says motorcycle riders cause about 11% of all car accidents in the United States. In 2018, there were 82,000 injuries from motorcycles and 4,985 deaths from motorcycles.

This shouldn’t be a surprise since motorcycle riders are 16 times more likely to be hurt or killed in a car accident than people riding in cars with doors.

California is not a very safe state for bikers, which is a shame. California has more registered motorcycles than any other state. There are more than 800,000 registered motorcycles in California. In 2017, there were 16,505 motorcycle accidents in California. These accidents hurt 15,527 people and killed 541.

Some drivers may have trouble seeing motorcycles during the day because it is hard to see. Wearing clothes that reflect light is a great way to get other drivers’ attention on the road.

It’s more important to stay safe on the road than to make a fashion statement, even if this doesn’t meet the standards of style for some people.
