Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

The driver, who struck the victim and then fled the scene, is primarily to blame for their actions. If the suspect is found, they will undoubtedly be arrested and charged with a crime.

The at-fault driver fled the scene in one of every five pedestrian collisions. Pedestrians account for 60% of the fatalities in hit-and-run accidents.

A hurt pedestrian has no choice but to be exposed when struck by someone else’s reckless behavior.

Although there were 14% fewer traffic-related fatalities between 2007 and 2016, there were 27% more pedestrian fatalities.

Because they are inebriated, operating a vehicle without a license, or concerned about being arrested, some drivers choose to leave an accident scene rather than wait for assistance.
