The mishap transpired around 12:15 p.m. on the National Trails Highway opposite the CalPortland Cement plant’s main entrance.

According to the reports, a white BMW 340i and a silver four-door VW Hatchback were heavily front-end damaged in the collision, and both ended up on the dirt shoulder.

Firefighters declared one person dead and asked two helicopters to land nearby to treat two others for critical wounds.

According to radio traffic, a young child was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and an adult was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
