Bicycle Accident Statistics

Accidents on bicycles are unfortunately inevitable, despite the various rules in place to safeguard cyclists in the United States. In 2018, over 800 bicyclists were killed in the United States due to accidents, and California had the highest death toll.

Cyclists, however, are responsible for dealing with the aftermath of crashes. Accidents involving bicycles decreased by 50,000 in the United States in 2015. There were 12% fewer bicycle accidents in the US in 2001, but more persons were killed.

377 bicycle riders succumbed to unspecified reasons, while 712 were run over by motor vehicles, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.

When compared to other states, California has the highest rate of fatalities in bicycling accidents in the United States. In 2017, 145 cyclists were killed, and 11,116 were injured in California, according to the National Bicycle Safety Foundation.

There are a few risks that riders face on a regular basis. Motorists routinely ignore the rights of cyclists by traveling dangerously close to them. Because of this, there is a risk of accidents and perhaps death.
