[12-31-2021] Los Angeles County, CA – Head-On Collision in Palmdale Results in One Death

A 61-year-old woman identified as Paula S. was killed after a deadly head-on crash in Palmdale on Friday afternoon, December 31st, 2021.

The accident happened on Sierra Highway, at the railroad tracks just south of Technology Drive in Palmdale, at around 5:30 p.m.

A northbound vehicle crossed the double yellow lines for unclear reasons and collided head-on with another car.

A female passenger inside the second vehicle was killed in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, both drivers were taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. Their identities have not been disclosed.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, but it has not been confirmed. Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the crash.

Fatal Head-On Collision Statistics

Although the coronavirus pandemic is expected to reduce the number of people on the road, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 38,680 persons would die in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2020, a 7.2% increase over the previous year.
