An 87-year-old man identified as Constantine Tsavalas was killed after a fatal two-vehicle traffic collision near Youthville on Saturday afternoon, October 17.
The fatal collision transpired at around 3:00 p.m. on Highway 29 at Hoffman Lane near Yountville. A 1998 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Tsavalas was initially driving on the northbound lanes of Highway 29 when it attempted to turn across the southbound lanes towards Hoffman Lane.
It was then struck by a 2000 Dodge Dakota heading southbound for unexplained reasons. The driver of the Dodge Dakota was identified as 36-year-old Mauricio R. Aguilar.
Both of the drivers were rushed to the Queen of the Valley hospital. Unfortunately, Tsavalas was later pronounced dead in the hospital. Authorities later determined that Aguilar was under the influence of alcohol during the accident. He was arrested and booked into jail for DUI.
