An unidentified 49-year-old motorcyclist died after getting hit by a tractor-trailer at an intersection in Hollister on Wednesday, April 15th.

Motorcyclist Dead After Getting Struck by a Tractor-Trailer in HollisterAccording to the initial reports from the local authorities, the accident occurred at around 10:18 a.m. at an intersection in Hollister.

A 29-year-old man identified as Benjamin Boyso was driving a 2010 Kenworth semi-truck westbound on Highway 156. He was traveling at approximately 55 miles per hour. As he was heading towards the intersection of Highway 25, a motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the intersection of Highway 25 and Highway 156.

The trailer-truck driver drove against the red traffic signal light, which inevitably caused him to collide with the victim. The victim reportedly drove through the intersection while the traffic signal light was green, unlike the trailer-truck drive.

The driver of the trailer-truck was uninjured. Unfortunately, the motorcycle driver died at the scene.

Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash Investigation is Underway

Local authorities are currently investigating the case.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact CHP Officer Tiffany Quintana at 408-848-2324 for any helpful additional information they can provide.

It is evident, in this case, that the liability falls on the tractor-trailer driver for deliberately entering the intersection while the traffic light was red, which caused the tragic fatal accident to occur.

Although it’s considered common knowledge for drivers to halt their vehicles at all stoplights, unfortunately, some negligent drivers refuse to follow simple traffic laws, which cause fatal accidents like this.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, around 40 percent of car collisions happen at road intersections. The most common cause for these accidents is negligent drivers running a stop sign or a stoplight. Negligent drivers do this because of impatience, reckless driving, and distracted driving.

When facing cases like this, it’s vital to have a San Benito wrongful death attorney specializing in fatal tractor-trailer accidents conduct an independent probe to protect the rights of the victim’s family.

Attorneys have the resources that can help them prove the negligence of the liable party. They can hire expert witnesses, conduct background checks on the involved drivers, and review applicable insurance coverage for their clients.
