Due to the severity of the impact, both of the vehicles veered off to the side of the road. One person was reportedly pinned inside the Subaru and had to be extracted by the rescue crew. The person was immediately brought to a nearby hospital where he/she received treatment for their moderate injuries. The identities of the people involved have not been disclosed.
Head-on Collision Accident Investigation is Underway
Local authorities are currently investigating the case and will attempt to determine the cause of the crash.
According to the statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 3,304 fatal car accidents in California in 2017. Although head-on collisions only represent 2 percent of accidents, they account for 10 percent of fatalities on U.S. roadways. These types of accidents are caused by a variety of reasons, such as distracted driving, drunk driving, and driver over-fatigue.
When facing cases like this, it’s essential to have an experienced Sonoma car accident attorney specializing in head-on collisions to conduct an independent investigation. Attorneys can help the victims receive the justice that they deserve as they have the resources to help prove the negligence of the guilty driver. They can re-interview important witnesses, review any related surveillance footage from the scene of the crash, and obtain the liable party’s phone and texting records.
