A 45-year-old male pedestrian was injured and hospitalized following a hit-and-run crash in east Petaluma on Wednesday evening, January 04, 2023.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, the crash occurred around 5:43 p.m. along Sonoma Mountain Parkway north of East Washington Street.
Responders arrived at the scene, discovered the Petaluma man in the southbound lanes, and transported him to Memorial Hospital for sustaining moderate injuries.
The victim was reportedly hit by a black 2006 Scion heading south on Sonoma Mountain Parkway, where he was crossing from the east. A black Mitsubishi pizza delivery car then rear-ended the first car.
The victim later revealed at the hospital that he was struck by another car after the first crash, running over his legs as he tried to sit up. Despite internal injuries, the man remained in the hospital in a stable state.
Authorities said the crash did not seem to be caused by speed or alcohol. Anyone with information is urged to contact them to aid in the investigation.
