Fatal Train Crash Statistics

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, pedestrians die in railway accidents more often than in collisions with cars. Faulty warning systems, outdated or absent safety equipment, and dangerous crossings cause the most deadly train accidents.

About every two hours, a train collides with someone or a car. Each year, more than a thousand people are killed in train accidents. There were about 2,300 injuries and 600 fatalities as a result.

Trains are the most effective form of transportation. The skills of the conductors and how frequently repairs are made are factors that affect employee and passenger safety. Passengers are at risk due to their negligence or inadequate shortcuts.

Over 7,200 people have died in US train accidents since 1997. Trains colliding with pedestrians on American railroads are currently the leading cause of fatalities, outpacing all other factors.

Derailments, worn-out tracks, contempt for safety regulations, lax security, and other factors are typically to blame for railway accidents.
