According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at around 4:45 a.m. on Temescal Canyon Road close to Leroy Road.

The exact cause and circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear, but two sedans reportedly collided close to the intersection.

Responders from the Corona Fire Department arrived within minutes and extricated one person trapped inside the wreckage. The injured victim was declared dead on the spot. It wasn’t known if the other motorist was hurt and how many people were involved.

Temescal Canyon was fully closed while the debris was cleaned and the initial investigation was carried out.
