Reckless Driving Statistics

Drivers who operate their vehicles aggressively or recklessly are putting other people’s lives unnecessarily at risk. Innocent people shouldn’t have to suffer due to someone’s careless actions on the road.

Drivers who operate their vehicles in such a manner should be held liable for the damages and injuries they cause. Unfortunately, traffic accidents caused by reckless drivers have increased across the country.

Every year, roughly 6 million accidents occur in the United States, resulting in the loss of 90 lives per day. Approximately 3 million individuals will be wounded in car accidents each year, and more than 2 million will suffer serious, long-term injuries.

Reckless driving is defined as “an individual commits a combination of moving traffic violations to endanger other persons or property” by the National Highway Safety Administration.

More than 33% of the 13,000 people who die each year in severe car accidents are caused by reckless drivers.

Negligence is to blame for each of these mishaps. Speeding, tailgating, racing, and erratic driving are examples of reckless driving practices. Intoxicated driving and texting or chatting on a cell phone are examples of irresponsible behavior that all drivers must avoid.
