Pedestrian Accident Statistics

When compared to people who drive their cars, pedestrians are more vulnerable to the dangers of the road. Pedestrians don’t have any form of protection that can prevent serious injury, unlike those in cars where they have airbags and seatbelts.

In the last few years, pedestrian deaths in the United States have become a big deal. Between 2007 and 2016, the number of pedestrian deaths rose by 27%, while other traffic-related deaths fell by 14%.

There are a lot of pedestrians hurt in accidents in California each year, and a few people are killed as well. Many pedestrian accidents happen because drivers are distracted, speeding, drunk or irresponsible. They also don’t follow traffic rules, and they don’t drive in the right direction.

The main reason for these accidents is that the driver was careless. When drivers are drunk, they cannot give pedestrians the right of way.
