[02-18-2023] Contra Costa County, CA – One Killed, Five Injured After Car Slammed Into Fire Truck in Walnut Creek

Five people were injured, and one was confirmed dead after a two-vehicle collision in Walnut Creek on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

Authorities confirmed that the deadly crash occurred early in the morning on northbound Interstate 680 near the Treat Boulevard offramp.

According to reports, the firefighter blocked the northbound lanes due to a previous accident when a Tesla crashed into it.

Responders were called to free one passenger from the vehicle and pronounced the Tesla driver dead at the scene.

The car’s passenger was extracted and transported to the hospital. Four firefighters were also taken to be evaluated.

Officials also reminded drivers to slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles.
