According to the initial reports from local authorities, the mishap occurred at Route 137, west of Road 96 near Porterville.

The woman was riding a motorized scooter when she was struck by an unspecified vehicle. The driver did not stop to render aid and drove away from the scene.

The woman sustained serious injuries in the mishap. The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed.

Local authorities are actively pursuing the hit-and-run driver.
