Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of bodily injury in the United States. Every year, about two million individuals are wounded in car accidents. California is home to around 200,000 of them.

Riverside County, home to more than 2 million people and the state’s fourth-most populous region, is notorious for its high levels of traffic fatalities.

Nearby highways including the 91, 215, and 60 account for most of Riverside’s traffic-related injuries and deaths in 2017, accounting for 2,119 total injuries and deaths.

The consequences of a car accident can be devastating and even life-altering. Drivers frequently overlook the potentially lethal nature of car accidents due to the prevalence of automobiles in our daily lives.

A collision involving three or more vehicles is frequently referred to as a “multi-car accident.” The word “pile-up” may describe a collision involving six or more vehicles.

More than 13,000 persons were killed in multi-vehicle collisions involving passenger vehicles, accounting for more than 40% of all motor vehicle accidents each year, according to a recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration research.
