Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics

Multi-vehicle pileups occur when three or more vehicles are involved in an accident simultaneously. Depending on the conditions, many people are injured and even killed in these accidents.

Especially on congested roadways, a pileup of three or more vehicles is not uncommon. Side-impact crashes and even head-on collisions can occur when cars are tossed around by the wind.

It is estimated that more than 13,000 people are killed each year in multi-vehicle crashes involving passenger vehicles, accounting for more than 40% of all motor vehicle fatalities.

As a result, in many crashes involving many vehicles, drivers have insufficient time to avoid hitting vehicles in front of them. It’s not uncommon for panicked drivers to swerve out of the way, slam on the brakes, and cause an accident.

Even larger chain reactions and greater pileups are regularly caused by vehicles that try to escape collisions by veering into oncoming traffic. This type of traffic collision is usually the most deadly kind.

San Francisco County Personal Injury Lawyers for Victims

It’s important to call an attorney after a multi-car accident. If someone else’s negligence caused the accident, the person’s insurance company is likely to make a settlement offer. The problem is that these offers don’t go far enough to compensate you for all of your losses.

To avoid a lengthy legal battle, the insurance company may often offer a smaller settlement value hoping that the victim will accept it.

With the help of a good lawyer, you may maximize your compensation and secure the money you need to pay your losses and move on with your life.
