Pedestrian Accident Statistics

No one can deny that pedestrians are the most at risk on the road, given their inability to protect themselves from fatal injuries in the event of a collision with a motor vehicle.

Recently, the number of pedestrian fatalities in the United States has increased to a critical level of concern. Between 2007 and 2016, the number of pedestrian deaths increased by 27%, while all other types of traffic-related deaths decreased by 14%.

When it came to drunk drivers who injure pedestrians, there was no room for doubt. It is a crime to operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Accidents involving drunk driving are not as common in the United States as they should be.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 30 Americans are killed each day in drunk driving accidents in the United States. In the United States, alcohol-related vehicular deaths account for approximately 29 percent of the total number of deaths. They have a blood-alcohol level above the 0.08 percent legal limit in more than 60% of the cases.
