[04-21-2023] 34-Year-Old Man Died, Three Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Avenue 12 and Road 35 IntersectionA 34-year-old man died, and three others were injured following a tragic car accident between a pickup truck and a sedan in Madera County on Friday night, April 21, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a report about a two-vehicle crash around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 12 and Road 35.

According to the initial investigation, the 53-year-old driver of a 2017 Ford truck, Jesus C., was cruising the highway when he slowed down, coming to almost a complete stop to make a left turn onto Road 35.

The 34-year-old driver of the Honda sedan was going east as it approached the truck. In an attempt to slow down, the Honda’s left front collided with the truck’s right rear, causing him to fly out of the car and suffer fatal injuries.

Honda’s passenger, a Fresno resident aged 29, who suffered moderate injuries, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. A Gilroy resident, 56, and an older woman, 88, who were both passengers in the truck, were treated for minor injuries at Saint Agnes Medical Center.

It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

The investigation is still ongoing.
